Programs and Services
In Region 6, TESDA offers various Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, carried out through four modalities: enterprise-based, community-based, school-based, and center-based.
Enterprise Based Programs
The enterprise-based programs of TESDA are held in companies or firms. These include three main types: Apprenticeship Program, Learnership Program, and Dual Training System.
As the term implies, the Apprenticeship Program involves and apprentice training under an employer or mentor. This program usually takes about four to six months.
Meanwhile, the Learnership Program takes only three months or less; it is an on-the-job training (OJT) type of program. Finally, the Dual Training System involves technology-based training and education. It is conducted in two venues; the school or training center, and the company or firm.
Community Based Programs
Community-based programs are designed for those who cannot afford and/or access formal training programs. These include learners coming from the poor, vulnerable, or marginalized sectors.
These programs empower learners by helping them establish livelihood enterprises that they can manage in the future. They also involve the participation of non-government organizations (NGOs), local government units (LGUs), and other stakeholders that aim to support marginalized communities.
School Based Programs
Across the country, TESDA has partnered with many schools when it comes to providing TVET programs. These include post-secondary courses that do not exceed three years of study.
In Region 6, TESDA’s partner schools are the following:
- Dumalag Vocational Technical School (DVTS) in Dumalag, Capiz;
- Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College (LGPC) in Balasan, Iloilo;
- New Lucena Polytechnic College (NLPC) in New Lucena, Iloilo; and
