The Fish Capture NC II is a training program offered by TESDA. It equips individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to catch and deliver seafood products. This qualification is essential for workers who are directly involved in fishing and other related activities in inland bodies of water and marine waters within 15 kilometers of the coastline.

Students enrolled in this program will learn how to operate fishing vessels of three gross tons or less. They will also receive training that complies with the pertinent requirements of the Maritime Industry Authority and the Local Government Units. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to obtain a Motorboat Operators License, a permit to fish in municipal waters, and other licenses, such as fisherman’s license, fishing boat license, and fishing gear license, where required.

- Operates a vessel of up to 3.0 GT
- Monitor the condition and seaworthiness of a vessel
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on a small coastal vessel

- Contribute to safe navigation
- Apply basic food handling and safety practices
d. CORE COMPETENCIES
Combination 1 Beach, seining, mesh or gill netting
- Adjust and position beach seines, mesh nets or gill nets
- Maintain, prepare, deploy and retrieve beach seines, mesh nets or gill nets to land catch
Combination 2 Hand-line Fishing
- Adjust and position hand-operated lines
- Maintain, prepare, deploy and retrieve hand-operated lines to land the catch
Combination 3 Pots and Traps
- Adjust and position pots and traps
- Maintain, prepare, deploy and retrieve pots and traps to land the catch
d. ELECTIVE COMPETENCIES
- Load and unload goods/cargo
- Assemble and repair damaged netting
- Implement the food safety program and procedures
- Keep a record for a municipal fishing business
- Apply basic first aid
- Operate and maintain marine outboard motors
- Transmit and receive information by marine radio or telephone
- Perform breath-hold diving operations
- Assemble and load refrigerated product
- Shift a load using manually operated equipment
- Maintain the temperature of seafood
- Work with temperature-controlled stock
- Conduct field observations
- Monitor and record fishing operations

Instructor’s Qualifications
The trainer qualifications for this Fish Capture NC II require the following:
- Must hold NC III
- Must be physically and mentally fit
- Must have undergone training in Training Methodology II (TM II)
- Requires 2-3 years of supervisory/managerial experience in the job/industry.(Only when required by the hiring institution)
