Qualifications

Course enrollees should meet these qualifications:

  • Must have completed 10 years of basic education or possess an Alternative Learning System (ALS) equivalent qualification.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Should be capable of performing basic mathematical computations.

Trainer Qualifications

Trainers for Massage Therapy NC II should have the following qualifications:

  • Must possess a National TVET Trainers Certificate Level I (NTTC) in Massage Therapy NC II. Instructors teaching programs for the visually impaired must be trained in appropriate teaching methodologies for these clients.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in the health service industry.

Lesson 2: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in a Massage Spa/Clinic

  • Spend at least 2 minutes on this activity
  • Go through the activity to the end

After completing this unit, the learner will be able to:

  • Describe the ideal characteristics of a massage clinic/spa and
  • Identify the different Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in a massage clinic.

Unit 3: Anatomy and Physiology for Massage Therapy

Lesson 1: Organ Systems of the Human Body

After completing this unit, the learner will be able to:

  • Familiarize yourself with the anatomy of the human body
  • Familiarize yourself with the important microbiology and pathology concepts relevant to the practice of massage therapy
  • Identify the different indications and contraindications
  • Identify the endangerment sites of the body.

Module 2: Fundamentals of Massage Therapy

This introductory course provides a comprehensive overview of Massage Therapy, covering the essential knowledge in three stages: pre-massage, massage proper, and post-massage.

Module 3: Performing Shiatsu

This course provides essential knowledge for performing Shiatsu Massage.

Unit 1: Introduction to Shiatsu

After completing this unit, the learner will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proper draping techniques during a massage session
  • Demonstrate proper positioning of the client
  • Identify the different contraindications of Swedish Massage
