Cities/Provinces Under TESDA Region 10

TESDA Region 10 serves the people of Northern Mindanao, which is composed of five provinces: Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, and Lanao del Norte. It also covers several cities in the region, including Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.

The regional office is located in Cagayan de Oro, the regional center and largest city in Northern Mindanao. In addition, this city also has a TESDA provincial office, along with its counterparts in other provincial capitals: Malaybalay City, Bukidnon; Mambajao, Camiguin; Iligan City, Lanao del Norte; and Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental.

Programs and Services

TESDA Region 10 provides Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs to learners in Northern Mindanao. These programs are delivered through four training modalities: center-based, enterprise-based, community-based, and school-based.

Community Based Programs

Community-based programs are created for the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable sectors. These include those who are eager to learn but cannot afford or are unable to access formal training programs.

Other than providing skills training, these programs involve the establishment of livelihood enterprises that will benefit the community. They also involve non-government organizations (NGOs), local government units (LGUs), and other stakeholders that are committed to helping marginalized groups.

Enterprise Based Programs

Basically, enterprise-based programs are implemented within firms or companies. These include three main types: Apprenticeship Program, Learnership Program, and Dual Training System.

As the term says, the Apprenticeship Program involves an apprentice, who has entered into a training and employment program with a mentor or employer. This program takes around four to six months.

The Learnership Program, on the other hand, takes around three months or less; it follows an on-the-job training (OJT) approach. As for the the Dual Training System, this is a technology based training and education program that is held in a couple of venues: the school/training center, and the company/firm.

School Based Programs

TESDA’s school based programs included TVET courses as well as post-secondary courses not exceeding three years. These are carried out in the agency’s partner schools.

In Region 10, TESDA’s school-based programs are available in these locations:

  • Cagayan de Oro (Bugo) School of Arts & Trades (COBSAT) in Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City;

  • Oroquieta Agro-Industrial School (OAIS) in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental; and
