Programs and Services

Similar to other TESDA offices around the country, TESDA Region 12 offers Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs through four modalities: enterprise-based, community-based, school-based, and center-based.

Enterprise Based Programs

Enterprise-based programs are primarily implemented in companies or firms, in coordination with TESDA. These include three main types of programs: Dual Training System, Apprenticeship Program, and Learnership Program.

The Dual Training System is a technology-based training and education type of program that is carried out in two venues: at the school/training center, and at the company/firm.

On the other hand, the Apprenticeship Program is based on a contract between an employer and apprentice. This training and employment program usually takes about four to six months.

Meanwhile, the Learnership Program is an on-the-job training (OJT) type of program that takes around three months or less.

Community Based Programs

Community-based programs are those that cater to the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable sectors. They are designed for those who are not able to afford or access formal training programs.

In addition to training, community-based programs involve the creation of livelihood enterprises that would help sustain the community in the long run. Other than TESDA, local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations (NGOs), and other stakeholders usually take part in these programs.

School Based Programs

Many of TESDA’s TVET programs, including post-secondary courses not exceeding three years, are delivered through TESDA-administered schools and institutions.

In Region 12, the agency’s school-based programs are conducted at the General Santos National School of Arts arts Trades (GSNSAT), which is based in General Santos City.

Center Based Programs

At the same time, many of TESDA’s programs are also held in the agency’s regional and provincial training centers. The list of regional centers in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region are as follows:

  • Provincial Training Center – Alabel, Sarangani
  • Provincial Training Center – General Santos City
