Cities/Provinces Under TESDA Region 11

TESDA Region 11 covers five provinces — Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental — all of which comprise the Davao Region. It includes six cities, Davao City, Digos, Tagum, Panabo, Mati, and the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS). The regional office is based in Davao City, while each province has its own TESDA provincial office.

Programs and Services

The regional office provides Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, delivered through four training modalities: center-based, enterprise-based, community-based, and school-based.

Center Based Programs

Many of TESDA’s programs are carried out through its regional and provincial training centers. Here’s a list of the training centers in Region 11, along with their locations:

Regional Training Center

  • Regional Training Center – Davao City/Korea Philippines Vocational Training

Provincial Training Centers

  • Provincial Training Center – Digos City, Davao del Sur

Community Based Programs

For people who are not able to afford or access formal training, TESDA provides community-based programs, which are designed for poor, marginalized, and vulnerable sectors.

These programs usually involve the participation of local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations (NGOs), and other stakeholders who are committed to empowering marginalized communities. They also include the creation of livelihood enterprises that will be managed by community members.

Enterprise Based Programs

There are three types of enterprise-based programs: Learnership Program, Dual Training System, and Apprenticeship Program. Typically, these programs are held in companies or firms.

The Learnership Program is an on-the-job training (OJT) type of program that takes around three months or less. The Dual Training System, on the other hand, is a technology-based education and training program. It is conducted in two venues: at the school/training center, and at the company/firm.

Finally, the Apprenticeship Program is a training and employment program that takes four up to six months; it involves a contract agreement between an employer and his/her apprentice.

School Based Programs

Aside from training centers, schools also serve as venues for TESDA’s TVET programs, which include post-secondary courses not exceeding three years. In Davao Region, TESDA-administered schools include the following:

  • Carmelo C. delos Cientos Sr. National Trade School (CCSNTS) in Padada, Davao del Sur;
  • Davao National Agricultural School (DNAS) in Montevista, Compostela Valley;
  • Davao Oriental Polytechnic Institute (DOPI)/Lupon School of Fisheries (LSF) in Lupon, Davao Oriental; and
  • Wangan National Agricultural School (WNAS) in Davao City.

Language Skills Institutes

For Filipinos who are planning to work abroad, TESDA provides language courses as well as workplace communication training. These are held in the agency’s Language Skills Institutes (LSIs), which currently offer the following language courses: English, Japanese, Spanish, Korean, and Mandarin.

TESDA’s LSIs in the Davao Region can be found in these locations:

  • TESDA LSI – Regional Training Center/Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center, Davao City; and

Aside from the training center in Davao City, there are KPITTCs in Guiguinto, Bulacan (Region 3) as well as in Novaliches, Quezon City (National Capital Region).

Assessment and Certification

Upon completing a TESDA course, learners undergo evaluation through the Philippine TVET Competency Assessment and Certification System (PTCACS). This process helps make sure that learners are adequately equipped and able to perform skills that meet industry standards.

The evaluation is carried out in TESDA’s accredited assessment centers by competency assessors. Those who have passed receive a certificate and become part of the agency’s Registry of Certified Workers. This is a pool of workers for various jobs in the country.
