One of TESDA’s regional offices in the Philippines is the TESDA CARAGA Regional Office, situated in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte. Its official Facebook page is named “TESDA Region XIII.”
The office provides language courses, technical and vocational training program, scholarships, and other services to the people of CARAGA Region. Notably, this region is also called “Caraga Administrative Region” and designated as “ Region 13.”
TESDA CARAGA covers the five provinces of the region: Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur. The area of coverage also includes six cities: Bayugan, Bislig, Butuan, Cabadbaran, Surigao, and Tandag.
TESDA’s regional office in CARAGA is based in Butuan, a highly urbanized city in Agusan del Norte. Additionally, the agency also has a provincial office in Butuan, along with offices in these locations: Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur; San Jose, Dinagat Island; Surigao City, Surigao del Norte; and Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.
Programs and Services
Like other regional offices of the agency, TESDA CARAGA offers various Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. These are delivered through four modalities: school-based, center-based, enterprise-based, and community-based.
School Based Programs
TESDA’s school based programs include TVET programs as well as post-secondary courses not exceeding three years. These courses are carried out in TESDA-administered schools and institutions.
In CARAGA, TESDA’s partner schools and institutions include:
Agusan del Sur School of Arts and Trades (ASSAT) in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur;
Northern Mindanao School of Fisheries (NMSF) / (Golden Heritage Polytechnic College) in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte; and
Surigao del Norte College of Agriculture and Technology (SNCAT) in Mainit, Surigao del Norte.
Center Based Programs
Aside from schools, training centers also serve as venues for conducting TESDA’s TVET programs and courses. Below is the list of TESDA’s regional and provincial training centers in CARAGA:

Enterprise Based Programs
Basically, enterprise-based programs are those that are held within companies or firms. These include three types: Apprenticeship Program, Learnership Program, and Dual Training System.
Spanning a period of four to six months, the Apprenticeship Program is a training and employment program that involves an agreement between an employer and an apprentice.
Meanwhile, the Learnership Program is an on-the-job training (OJT) kind of program. It covers a period of three months or less.
Finally, the Dual Training System is a technology-based training and education program. As the name implies, it is conducted in two venues: at the school, and at the company.
Community Based Programs
Imagine a program that not only provides skills training, but also helps the learners establish their own livelihood enterprise? This are the aims of TESDA’s community-based programs, which are designed for the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable sectors.
These programs cater to those who usually cannot afford or access formal training programs. Aside from TESDA, local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations (NGOs), and other stakeholders are involved in these programs.
Language Skills Institutes
Some TESDA learners are aiming to land jobs overseas. For this reason, the agency offers language programs and workplace communication training through its Language Skills Institutes (LSIs). These days, LSIs offer language courses on English, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, and Spanish.
The agency’s LSIs in the CARAGA Region are as follows:
TESDA LSI – Agusan del Sur School of Arts and Trades (ASSAT), Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur; and
