TESDA Language A1 Level Course

Language A1 Level

What is Language A1 Level?

This course focuses on developing competencies to use everyday expressions and interact simply. It covers phrases aligned with the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR) standards. Students will learn to understand and use expressions related to personal details, introductions, and basic needs. The course enables learners to communicate effectively in simple conversations, with the condition that the other person speaks slowly, clearly, and is willing to assist.

Training Duration

Below is a list of suggested minimum training durations for non-native speakers aiming to achieve Language A1 level proficiency.

a. European Languages

  • English: 100 hours
  • Italian: 100 hours
  • Spanish: 100 hours
  • German: 100 hours
  • French: 100 hours
  • Portuguese: 152 hours

b. Asian Languages

  • Chinese Mandarin: 200 hours
  • Taiwanese Mandarin: 200 hours
  • Korean: 152 hours
  • Japanese: 152 hours
  • Arabic: 152 hours
  • Bahasa (Melayu and Indonesia): 100 hours
  • Filipino: 152 hours

Qualifications

The program requires trainees to meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years old or above
  • High School graduate or holder of an ALS certificate of achievement (secondary) or Senior High School graduate
  • Filipino Citizen* (for TESDA scholarship availment)

This list does not include all institutional requirements for the TVET program, such as partner-based educational attainment, nationality, work experience, clearances, and others as specified by the school or training center.

Note: Scholarship program requirements should be based on the latest issued Omnibus Guidelines.

Requirements

To enroll in this course, you will need the following documents:

  • PSA Birth Certificate
  • High School or College Diploma
  • Certified True Copy of Official Transcript of Records or Form 137
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character or GMRC
  • 1 x 1 and/or 2 x 2 pictures

Instructor Credentials

The trainer qualifications for this Language A1 Level require the following:

  • Completed 2 years of college
  • Certificate of higher language proficiency or language course training (A2 Level or higher, aligned with CEFR)
  • Trainer’s Methodology I (TM 1) Certificate or Community-Based Training Methodology (CBTM)
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in the language to be taught within the last 5 years

NOTE: An online training delivery requires a FELS Certificate or any relevant certificate.
